A Do-garden is a vegetable garden in the backyard of an elderly person. Young people with kids maintain his or her garden. In exchange they get a piece in the garden to grow flowers, vegetables of fruit. The elderly person keeps in contact with the neighbours and the garden is being maintained on a regular basis. Parents create a nice opportunity to do green outdoorsy things with their children. Young and old help each other out in the neighbourhood, and are both profiting from it. Why not do it in your own city?

The Doetank has written a guide for starting Do-gardens. In Dutch. If you want to translate from Dutch to English, please let us know! In the meantime check out the guide:  click here! It gives you a complete guide on how to start the garden, how to meet people, what to sow, and other fun activities for in the garden.
